What is a music therapy or music therapist?
I need help I am about to graduate high school and I want to do something with music and I don’t know if I should do music therapy or music education so if any one could help thanks!
I’m in chorus so I know alot about music.

Music Education will require that you know a lot about music and that you deal with children.
If you enjoy working with and teaching children then go into music education.

Music to stop a psychotic episode when nothing else works. It calms the patient..
Depends on what you like, and on what your interests are. Both are extremely challenging fields, both will take you to a long trip of endless brick walls and frustrations, and seldom successes that will compensate for all of it.
Music therapy will put you face to face with sick people and children, with autism, with psychological disorders, impaired… Are you ready to face this?
If you choose music education, then you’ll have to deal with all kinds of spoiled brats and their parents (they have all the rights, and you have all the obligations), who’ll explain you how you don’t understand music if you don’t listen to the great X (fill in…) who’s actually a misunderstood genius… maybe with some stuck-up principal who never understands what you’re doing and keeps explaining you that you’re "just the music teacher", it’s not like you teach them something important…
Do some reading before you make a decision - and if you can, go see for real (go to schools, music therapy centers, assist). Extremely difficult, frustrating… and somehow, still worth it. By the way, I am also a music teacher
