My wife told me a little over a month and a week ago we were seperating because she needs her space to find herself. We have had very little time together since we bought our house since we have had many indefinate house guests, her friend and her three children, her sister and our niece twice, and her mother for over a year. Plus since her mother lived with us all kinds of unannounced visits from other family. She had Gastric Bypass which I was beside her the whole way and she has said I love her the same as I did before the surgery which she was glad for. During a good portion of this she also did not work. She did however start drinking and going to a local bar. She decided to get a job when the money started getting tight then she got another to keep her nursing liecense. Then she started going out more and more. She then tells me her mom is moving out so naturally I’m happy to be able to spend time with my wife again until she tells me she is moving out soon after.
I asked if we could try counseling to which she eventually replied she had been seeing a therapist for two months. She said she still loves me but doesn’t know who she is surprisingly her family was on my side saying after all the things we’d been through I was beside her through it all and she was wrong for acting this way. So she withdrew from her family, friends and from me. She moved out and told me to move on, I did not. I want nothing more than to work on our marriage and end our seperation. Well after much argueing and accusations on her side she has agreed to go to counseling. I love her and want nothing more than to work things out and remain married and hopefully both be happy. What should I expect and how many couples that go to counseling actually work things out and stay married? Should I get my hopes up or plan for the worst? Anyone having actual experience in this situation with any advice would be greatly appreciated. Serious answers only please.
In response to Melissa I had been trying to set up "dates" with my wife and in fact was doing so when she told me she was moving her mom out on her next day off then leaving too. I had tried a bunch of times and we usually had some bs situation come up so things didn’t workout for us being able to spend time together. Since the seperation we have had a few "dates" and things seemed to be going well but then she’d still leave.

I feel like there is nothing left of my marriage. There seems to be so much distance. There is no intimacy (due to me not wanting any) no communication. Basically, he comes home from work and goes into the game room and plays playstation or poker all night. We have an 18 month old son. I asked him to go to couseling 8 months ago and he wouldn’t. Now that I talked to him about a seperation, he wants to try couseling.
Has couseling worked to save your marriage or is it too late?

My mother is recently going through a divorce, for some reason we believe her attorney has ties with my fathers attorney. My mom has opposed to sign the final agreement. The agreement is less favorable towards her. She asked her attorney that their was lots of properties not listed on the final agreement her attorney said that my father can re evaluate what our house is worth all over again at any time, and will give my mom less. Can he do that even if their seperation was way before the market went down? what can she do?

My husband moved to another country and wants a divorce. My older son, 11, is with him and the younger one, 3, is with me. My husband and I get alone well when not together. However, what relevent here is that at most time, we agree on the child care issues, excepting that husband insists that our seperation have no impact on our sons. Some articles I read argued that even children grew up in a family with argumentive parents are doing better than children who grew up in divorced families. But those are only researches, probably done by some PHD never had children themselves (not that they are not valuable). I know how children turn out will also depend on their own personalities. No one can predict future. Still I want to find out more on this subject from people who have personal experiences, no matter as divorced parent or as a child grew up in a divorced family. What fact(s) you think contribute to the negetive or positive impact (if there is any)on children in your divorce? THX!
