I need to make a power point presentation on peer mediaiton , and I need some photos describing the rules and stages of peer mediation
My credentials:
I have a 4.9/5.0 GPA. My weighted class rank is #1 though because I took extra honors classes during my sophomore year(I am a science wiz so I decided to take anatomy and physics). I recieved a 30 on my ACT(which I know is not up to par). I have made varsity tennis all of my years, varsity soccer for junior and senior year. I am involved in the following clubs/organizations: National Honor Society(Vice-President),Spanish Club(junior year-treasurer/secretary;senior year-president(?),Peer Mediation,Scholastic Bowl(quiz team),Spanish Honor Society, and Key Club(Secretary). I write well and am sure that I can get good recommendations and write a more than valid essay. I have helped at an elementary school carnival and a christmas present shopping for the red cross as my service to the community. I live in Illinois (difference?).If you could respond as to whether you think I have a shot, then that would be splendid(don’t sugarcoat) advice to improve is also appreciated!
I’m the president of the student body, editor in chief of yearbook, president of rho kappa, vice president of the national honor society, historian of mu alpha theta, captain of my school’s flag football team, and a member of English honor society, peer mediation and science honor society. and in my junior year I was the vice president of junior class and French club and I was part of the principal’s advisory team. I have 100+ hours of community service, a 4.3 GPA, and I am currently taking four advanced placement classess. (calculus, European history, physics and English). But I have a 1090 sat score and a 25 act :[ what are my chances?
I would love to go to UC davis!!! or Usc or Ucla ( not really into the uc santa barba or us sandiego). Let me tell you bout my past..and let me kno if i really have a chance…. Ok so 10th grade year i reallly fucked up with my grades and i had total GPA of a 2.1 ( I kno redicilous) but i was in alg 2, chemistry, world history, spanish, honors english. 11th grade i ended up with a 4.1 ( i really tried alot harder) i was takin AP english, Trig, Physilogy, spanish, us history and ceramics. but that means my total GPA is like a 3.1 or 3.2 ….. senior year im taking AP calc, Ap english, gov/econ, psychology/sociology, and foods. Sat was 1725 and Act was 29 Im also a linkcrew leader, part of the peer mediation group and multi culture group. Out side of skool i took a nogatiation class at cal state domingues hills, and a child development class at a communtity collge. I dont do sports but im on a dance team, i have 80 hours of community service at a camp for un privilleged kids, and i have job. Though my GPA was very low for 10th is there still a chance i can get into UC davis???
I don’t believe this is too early but I am in my Sophomore year of High School, and have been thinking about college for a long time.
Last year in my freshmen year my overall average was 97.52. This year i transferred schools and the first report card came out. In all my classes i got 90 and above except in my Woodshop class. My over all average is 89.4. (i know i have 13 credits from last year)
In my old school my i woke up at 7 am and walked 4 blocks to the bus stop and got to school in 10 minutes (on the bus.) I got out at 2:30
In my new school i wake up at 6 am, i take a bus and a train (it takes 1 hour ). I get out at 4:30 then its an hour to get home (which sucks XD).
My new school is all about engineering and planes. My shop class is 3 periods long EVERY SINGLE day (my teacher stutters a lot and takes 2 periods for a lesson when it SHOULD take less then one EVERYSINGLE day then we do work). It’s all about the Aviation industry.I got a 70. Next term i take metal and in my Junior year the ‘shop’ class changes every 21 days. I have been trying harder and although my future career has almost nothing to do with aviation. Even though i just transferred i was aloud into the Tech honors society (so far all we’ve done is go to the breast cancer walk ) you need an 85 or above in ‘shop’ and im on probation. I may join another club when i get used to everything.
I want tobe either a
1. Mutual Funds Manager.
2. Pharmacist (i dont want to be a doctor b/c i dislike doctors they are all rip-off artists!)
I also have started to take an extra program on saturdays which help with SATs and count as 2 credits. I also take peer mediation which is a regular class and i become a mediator after the class. (which counts as community service)
The school has a good name (2nd in the state) so my parents just love it.. i am pretty social and made a lot of friends .. who i hang out with after school ..i usually get to sleep at around 11 which is bad..? my parents say
My questions are:
1.What really is an "Honor student" exactly? (is it just grades?)
2.What does Harvard look for specifically? (what clubs or extra after school things should i do?)
3.Do I still have a chance of getting into Harvard?
4. How does the SAT work exactly? ( i get the main stuff just the scoring explanation and what it counts for in Harvard)
5. What do state test count for? Do colleges look at them deeply?
My dream schools are Emerson College and NYU for Journalism/Communications majors. I have a 3.964 GPA. I have taken 1 AP class and all honors. Have 2 years of Honors French and 1 of Latin. Can speak the following languages: Spanish, English (obviously), Romany, Calo, Catalan, Italian, French, and learning some Japanese and mandarin. I am listed as Hispanic, but aren’t really: I am British, Dominican, Taino, Roma, French, and Spanish (Spain). I have taken at least 4 years of all the major classes required also. I am in the book club, Model UN, NHS, Photography Club, Asian American Club, Peer Mediation, and do some community service. I fence and do archery, but aren’t in any school teams.
I am entering this fall a Senior and don’t think there is much to do at this point but trying. I am taking extra classes at the local state college, to get in into AP Calc. and possibly stats according to my teachers if I do that. I’ll have all honors and AP next year taking out Math. Can anyone help?
I am doing an assignment for a class about peer mediation. I am having a hard time trying to answer the question. It asks, "What are the negative impact of adult interference in peer mediation?"
So far I have answered:
-teacher interrupts the conversations between the mediators and students who are involved with the problem
-teacher may not let the students solve their own problem.
Does anyone else have any ideas that could help me? Thanks
