What are the requirements for counseling people in Minnesota? This would be a novel type of counseling that is not meant to treat, diagnose, or cure any disease, nor be broad enough to count as occupational therapy.

I am going to be a freshman in college next year, and I’m very interested in occupational therapy. I have job shadowed multiple therapists, and my aunt (who is one) has answered many of my questions. One thing I’m not sure of is how hard the college classes will be leading up to OT school. I’m not a genius in physics or anatomy, so will it be very difficult? If anyone has taken classes required for OT, please give me your input! Thanks.

On average, how selective are the programs? I have a year left of school and want to do occupational therapy now. I am a junior in college and have a 3.94 GPA, but my major is in history. Does my major matter a lot if I take all the prerequisites? And does one need A LOT of experience with patients, or will a little suffice? What kind of experience is good to have? Thanks so much for the info.

My mother will be going into a nursing home for short stay therapy and my main concern is the physical therapy that she will receive. I have found sites that rate the nursing homes but none of them rate the therapy department Where can I check out the homes for the physical and occupational therapy they provide?

I’m a freshman at college right now considering what I want to major in. I thought about working in equine facilitated therapy but I’m unsure what degree and program of study would work for that. I wasn’t sure if there is a specific degree program or if you would get a degree in physical or maybe occupational therapy. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

One of my 13 month old twins who was born premature at 26 weeks goes to pediatric rehab twice weekly for an hour to take physical and occupational therapy. Should I pull him out for a week or two during this swine flu mess or would I be over reacting? We’ve had two ‘confirmed’ cases of swine in our area. Also, my son has chronic lung and does not attend daycare.

I am considering working as an occupational therapy and I would like to know some more information about the field. I have read the occupational outlook handbook, but I feel like the description of it is really broad. I would love to hear any personal stories if anyone would like to share.
For therapists, what kind of work do you do with your patients?
For patients, what was your therapy like? What activities did you do for what?
