I met someone and recently met him, he took vacation to visit me from Wales, and we got married with a marriage license etc. I dont want him to have to go back, because i might be pregnant. He doesnt want to have to go back either. Since were married, can he stay here with me and file for citizenship? Or does he have to go back to wales to apply for citizenship? ive researched that the process takes about 6 months (sometimes more) So we both dont want him to have to go back and me be pregnant by myself for that long :( please help me with any information!!! THank YOU!!

Who would pay for required genetic counseling?

I am doing a research paper and this is my question:
Should genetic counseling be required before marriage/having kids? So the information i am looking for is if it is required (as part of marriage license, prenatal care) who should pay for it, or if it was a free/low cost program, who should pay for it, the people (the parents/couples themselves) insurance companies or who? FYI: i am not trying to take away people’s rights to have kids, i want them to be informed of the risks of having children with birth defects is. I am looking for professional information if it is out there. Please help!!!!

Marriage license? Help?

Ok SO currently my fiance is down in southern California and I’m in northern. I need to get our marriage license but he can’t go with me due to his job(he’s in the military). So I have to go by myself. The only thing is. Can I even do that? Does he have to be there when I go to get it or does he just have to be there when we file it?
Another thing. He’s only seventeen and he’ll still be seventeen when we get married. His parents are signing. How does that work with the marriage license?
Thank you!

Was thinking about this just the other day at ways to maybe reduce the rate of divorce.

1) Since a Marriage License is a license why not have a mandatory pre marriage class before can get one. It could be non-religious and cover things like communication and hit on other hot items that lead to divorce. As a side note it could possibly allow some religious pre marriage classes to meet the criteria for example Catholics have pre martial classes that could meet it.

2) Have the initial marriage license be only good for say 3 years kind of like a green card is for a immigrant. That is it has a expiration date and has to be renewed for permanent license.

3) Related to the above item no divorce is allowed in the first 3 years but can get a legal separation. The separation would require attending another class to see if things can be worked out. Either way they would have to wait for the license to expire at 3 year mark before being able to marry someone else. Kind of a forced cool down period but if they don’t renew the license it just expires. The reason for the legal separation would be to divide assets similar to current divorce but they would still have to wait the 3 years before jumping into another marriage.

4) Eliminate the "no fault" divorce so that in order to divorce has to be a bigger reason then I just don’t feel like being married any longer. The reasons would allow for broader scope. Prior to a divorce mandatory classes unless the divorce reason is Abuse, Adultery or illegal activities for which no class necessary,

5) Also if the divorce is caused because of Abuse, Adultery or illegal activities the causing spouse would lose all rights to marital assets. Thus if someone is doing one of those activities and spouse files for divorce they get nothing and the injured spouse receives all marital assets no contest.

6) Side not to the above is that if a spouse abuses another spouse it will no longer take the abused to press charges. The state will bring the charges and the abuser will be tried with or without the abused testimony. In addition make adultery a crime with maybe a 1 year jail sentence to make it less attractive.

Just like others opinions on my idea. I know some of them are a little extreme but isn’t in the best interest of society to reduce the divorce rate? Also if less divorce less money wasted on the whole mess and judges. lawyers, etc are not having to deal with them and can deal with more important crimes.

Chicago marriage help?

My finace and I are planning a trip to Chicago late July. I was looking into getting married there. It’s just goin to be us for the trip and would like to find a nice place to get married. I already found marriage license info. Just looking for a bit of help on where we can get married. Looking for a nice outside place. Thanks!
Also, we live in Michigan. About 45 mins from Detroit.

in a county and state that I do not live in?

I need the papers to apply for a marriage license, in regards to the divorce of my fiance from his former wife.

My fiance and I have premarital counseling in about 2 weeks. He’s an adult, but I’m a minor and in order for us to get our marriage license we have to go to premarital counseling. Basically, I’m wondering what they ask, or what goes on in the counseling room?

Stories will be helpful, as well.

He is in Mexico now. He and his wife are both Mexican citizens. They have been separated for almost 4 years. Can he obtain the divorce without a signature from his wife with just the marriage license? She refuses to sign. She lived with and carried on a relationship with another man for at least 1 year in the past 4 years. They have one child under the age of 5.
