I am getting married July 30th. My fiance and I are in 2 different states, so we are looking into some marriage counseling online through skype or email.
We need a Church of Christ preacher who is willing to help us out.
If anyone can help us, it would be appreciated!

My husband and I just started marriage counseling. I’m wondering if there are any couples out there who were helped out by it, and can give me an encouraging story. I think I read that 90 percent of the time it doesn’t work, and couples get divorced that go into therapy, so I’m hoping that isn’t the case with us. Thanks!

Hello well for starters I live in Oklahoma and I am really wanting to get into family/ marriage counseling. I am not sure what type of degree I need to get to do this. I am wanting to some day open my own little office and do this I know I dont have to get a PHD or anything just to be a licensed marriage / family counselor. I am thinking Bachelors in Sociology ? or psychology ? or ummm yeah see why I need help . Thanks so much!!!!

Has anyone ever tried marriage counseling?
If so, what was your experience? Did it help?
Would you recommend it?
If a negative experience, why? Any other suggestions?
Thank you for the advice and answers.

Eventually my career goal is to open my own psychological practice that focuses on marriage counseling. I thought I should be entering college in the psychology field but someone said that wasnt right, that I should be looking for Human services. Which is the better route for me? I know I’ll have to continue onto get my masters & possibly phd. Thanks!

I want to be a relationship/marriage counselor and I’m wondering if you choose that as a career, you might have to do other types of counseling with it, like family counseling as well. I was just wondering
I would prefer just sticking with relationship/marriage counseling, but I didn’t know if that was possible or not, if other types of counseling will have to be involved no matter what
Thanks for any advice (:

I am trying to write a persuasive paper for school. I’m trying to persuade couples to get marriage counseling before getting married, and during a marriage if necessary; i need to be prepared and have "comebacks" to the couples points of view. I would like to know questions or reasons why a couple might opt against counseling.

I need a good excuse for all those times I laugh so hard everyone here knows I’m not working…
….Can’t I say it was a message from a member of my marriage counseling group?

In most cases the only thing marriage counseling does is cost money that could have otherwise went to the kids and the relationship still ends. I have seen several studies that show the divorce rate for people in marriage counseling is actually slightly HIGHER then for couples with no counseling yet the answer to every question here seems to be "see a marriage counselor"!
