I was told that the military only sees marriage and divorce and does not recognize legal separation. My husband and I aren’t sure on divorce yet but we definately need time apart. Legal separation is our best bet at this point and is really the way I want to go. Can anyone help me? How does this all work in the military situation. We are an airforce family

I’m doing an article on Marriage and Divorce rates of young people in the military, but can’t seem to find any information or stats that are more recent than 2008. Can anyone help with maybe links or anything?

Best place to find marriage/divorce records?

I am looking for marriage and divorce records on someone. Where is the best place to get these. If I go to someplace like Intelius.com, are those accurate, and will that report give me exact dates and names?

Any tips or advice for a succesful marriage?

Well, I’m 19 and I’ve only been married for two and a half months. I’ve been reading through this marriage and divorce thread for the past couple days, and I have to say I’m a little scared! I love my husband like crazy and I really want to be with him (happily) forever. Things are going great right now, but I just wondered if maybe you guys could tell me what’s made your marriage work or what caused your marriage to fail so I can make sure my own marriage is successful. Thanks in advance!

this is in marriage and divorce section because i am a recently separated woman and i am indulging in a little retail therapy before my first valentine’s day as a single woman. also this is a busy section so i get many and quick answers here.

Maybe it’s just me, but I feel that all I’m good for apparently is a paycheck to support the poorer spouse and kids if I ever get married, and getting divorced is just a way that the poorer spouse can screw the productive one over financially if they decide to give up. I feel that the whole marriage and divorce system is set up primarily to benefit the kids and whoever makes less money. I’m all for letting the poorer spouse have enough to be able to survive for a few years until she can support herself or finds another man. However when a poor or middle income woman (or man, though it’s much rarer) can marry an uber rich person and walk away 7 years later with hundreds of millions of dollars that they had nothing to do with (more if they get custody of the kids), there’s something wrong with the divorce code.

Keep in mind that I made this as gender neutral as possible cuz I’m not a sexist or bitter person. But I’m using common sense and seeing something wrong with this picture.
I mean honestly, I feel that if you’re a middle class person marrying someone who doesn’t contribute as much to the "marital assets" as you, then that other person would have free reign to rape you in divorce court if they so choose! Almost makes marriage not worth entering into if you’re not that poorer person!
