I would really love to be a counselor specifically a marriage or a school counselor but it seems it would be difficult to be a school counselor because of lack of jobs… Marriages are always failing unfortunately so I think i would always have a job plus I absolutely love helping people! How long would it take? And is it an enjoyable job?

My local community college offers a degree in Drug Abuse Counseling (Human Services). Is it easy to find a job with a degree like this? I know just a degree in Psychology, I’ve heard, wont get a lot of good jobs in the psychology field unless your a doctor.

Im thinking about applying for this degree, any help would be appreciated.

First I thought Mental Health Counseling, but it’s not very flexible as far as jobs go. Then I thought Social Work, very flexible, but not really what I want to do. Are there anymore other Master’s degree that is flexible, but deals with counseling people?

I have a counseling session tomorrow, & this will be my 2nd time going to this woman. I’ve been in counseling before, but I’m just nervous about this particular woman because she sort of doesn’t understand what I’m going through, & the reason why I’m afraid is because I’m afraid we might have a disagreement & I might have a panic attack & get put in the hospital, & that’s the LAST thing I need.

I know her job is to try to help me & everything, but she doesn’t exactly understand what I’m going through, & I don’t feel comfortable with speaking to her. Instead of trying to help me, she blamed me for my problems & tried to make it like I deserved to go through the abuse I’m experiencing. What kind of counselor is that?! BOY I tell u, some people are just into their jobs for the money. If she doesn’t like her job, then maybe she should tru to find a different profession. Should I give her 1 more shot or cut her loose & try to find a different counselor?

I have a bachelor’s in nutrition, about 5 years in various human services jobs and an interest in holistic stuff. I want to use my interests and talents in some kind of fun job. I was thinking of doing holistic nutrition counseling but a lot of the schools I find for that seem pretty hokey and aren’t accreditted universities or anything. Any suggestions?

You are primary care giver 4 your husband’s 4 kids whom you sponsored to come to the US . They speak some limited English but still speak mostly in their native language around you as does their father. One day the 10 yr old girl is singing quietly when the 14 yr old boy says something to her in a harsh, angry tone. She looks hurt and stops singing. You ask him what he said. He ignores your question. You ask again. Again no reply. Finally he says he can’t translate it into English. You say maybe your father can help us with that. Should I call him? Kid says no don’t call him but later again says he can’t even translate a hint of what he said into English. You call the father who tells you “If they don’t want to tell you then it’s not your business what they say! Maybe you need to go learn how to speak our language.” You say “Can U ask him to tell U hat he said in your language?” Husband: “No because I DON’T CARE what he said to her. Only you do." How would you handle this?
To the post from "Oscar" I didn’t "get" anything for sponsoring him. Do you think I would be here asking for assistance with r this man’s treatment of me if this were a business transaction. How much were you paid to be such a simpleton and was it worth it?
Anthony he has a job dumb azz…TWO JOBS. I met him here in the USA. I didn’t literally sponsor him I sponsored his kids. If you know this little about Immigration law you don’t need to be reading or writing here.
To people saying that I need to learn Arabic (and I’ve taken classes, gotten language CDs and it’s just to difficult for me) why don’t you come over here and help me learn this very difficult language? You act like learning a new language is as easy as baking a cake! Also, why is it if THEY are coming to my home country that I have to learn THEIR language? How did that happen? Finally he speaks arabic but NO he/they are NOT middle eastern.

Final Divorce Papers?

I decided to end a long marriage in September 2009. That’s when we separated and papers were served on my ex. He refuses to sign the papers. See, one of the reasons I left was because for the past 10 years he has only tried for minimal jobs. We relocated from CA to PA. I think he came here to retire and I was the last to know.

Anyway, in PA if one spouse won’t sign the divorce papers, PA law makes it linger for 2 years. If 2 years have passed, then a Master goes in and makes the divorce final … which leads to my question.

At a meeting among the 4 of us … he and I, and our attorneys … I asked the question: I want to start dating now. Is it legally ok for me to date even though the divorce isn’t final? They both answered yes, that it is.

I have found a man I’d like to date. We’ve hit it off on all levels. We both enjoy running in marathons, hiking, just to name a couple of things. However, he joined a support group from a church about marriage, divorce and separation, and it seems that it’s the elders’ opinion from the church that it would be immoral for him to date me since the divorce isn’t final. The opinions from the general group were varied.

So my question is: In your opinion in my case, where I’m trapped until Sept. of 2011, is it immoral to date?

Thank you for your thoughts
