So my roomate has 2 daughters with his ex fiance. She has 3 children all together 2 of them are his. He wants to claim only one of his daughters and let her claim the other because he thinks this is fair. She refuses and says if he tries to claim her that it will fall back on him and the IRS will come after him. He pays a week child support. He has never missed a payment and is completely up to date. He has custody of them on every other weekend. If he claims one of his daughters will he get in trouble?

2009 and 2010 tax refund is held by child support. I owe 4,000 in child support and I have a refund of over 11,000. They are saying that they have to hold it another 170 days from receiving the check from IRS. Both years the taxes were done on time.

If a couple is going through a divorce and the husband owes the IRS a large amount of money, and he stalls the divorce (court date) and withdraws millions of dollars from his accounts in the mean time, depositing the money into his illigitimate child’s trust fund.
If the wife is entitles to half of EVERYTHING, the wife’s lawyer is allowed to have the money removed from the trust fund, correct? Also keep in mind that the married couple has 3 children.

What exactly is the difference between a bureau vs. office? Specifically I am looking at the US Dept of Treasury. FinCen is listed as a bureau. Does that mean it is an independent agency like the IRS for example? Then there is the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). Is this merely a division within the Treasury dept, or an independent agency also? Both are under the auspices of the Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence. Thanks for clarification on this matter!
Thanks, your link did point me in the right direction by helping me eventually find out the distinction between an executive agency and an independent agency. (I guess that was my real question, but I had the wrong terminology!)
I guess OFAC, FinCEN and the IRS are each executive agencies that are part of the Treasury Department which are treated as managerially and budgetarily separate in order to carry out some part of the executive functions whereas independent agencies are those that exist outside of the departments of the executive branch and are established through separate statutes passed by the U.S. Congress.

The job is for an asset management job in the investment management division of a large commercial bank. The IRS and a certain state both have liens or levies on me amounting to something like ,000. However, there are special circumstances. My credit was always good until I had a very serious injury that cost me my job, etc… So can the bank give special consideration for this? I know in some cases, like with financial advisors/brokers, if you have a lien exceeding ,000 the insurance companies won’t cover you (not sure which insurance companies o what type of insurance), but i was told this by a knowledgeable source.
But this job is not a brokerage position. But it is with a bank. So I’m concerned. I really want this job very badly.

How can I word a statement verifying that a parent (friend) has custody of his child more than 50% time?
Just to clarify, this is NOT for IRS…this is for DES so the child can get health insurance and this is all that DES asked for until the father can provide the paperwork from the courts (his parenting time just changed recently)!

we recently found out that my husband’s ex-wife has not claimed the alimony received on her taxes for the four years she’s gotten it. we were audited the first year since the amount we were claiming was so high it showed a red flag to the irs. we had to get copies of checks and provide the court document stating we were to pay the money to her. we were cleared from the audit and they finally caught up to her four years later. her wages are being garnished for the money she didn’t claim.
my question is: since this is tax fraud, do we have any kind of case to terminate payments to her?
or is this just wishful thinking?

I am a stay at home mom of 3 children and have been married for 12 years. During the marriage I have only worked a year, per my husband who has cheated several times. He is a contractor who makes very little, but at times he does okay. He owes the IRS 45K for one year that we separated when he moved in with another woman. I in turn moved out, went to work and made my 12 bucks an hour punching numbers and filed head of household… Now he is back and I want him gone as he is cheating again and I want to go to school and back to work, but is his debtg mine? I qualify for welfare in my state, but do not use it. What do I do?
He only filed once in the time we’ve been together, but he says I’ll pay for this the rest of my life and never be able to afford to have custody of my kids. I’m scared and broke. He will file an uncontested to save cash, but I don’t want to go to school to pay the IRS his careless debt that his drunken behavior brought onto us. Please, someone advise.
