I am writing a speech to persuade people that Gene Therapy is a good thing. Does this mean i have to include Stem Cell Research? Are they two completely different concepts or branches of eachother? And what ARE the ethical concerns of Gene therapy? Playing God etc?

Gene therapy is when genetic diseases are mitigated or cured by changing the genetic makeup of certain cells. This may be done in somatic cells or germ cells. It seems as though the major ethical concerns would arise in germ cell therapy because the genetic makeup of an organism’s decendants are changed. Other concerns may arise in somatic therapy because the genetic make up of the organism, believed by many to have been chosen for a reason by a creator, is changed. Please no links to wikipedia or debates over whether or not there is a creator.
