on her husband receive as favorable a property and alimony settlement as the woman who does not ?

Current ‘No Fault’ divorce law does no take into account breach of the marriage contract so a woman who cheats gets the same settlement as one who does not.
Plus no fault divorce law does not consider adultery when determining custodey of children, should it ?

Why is an annulment considered a divorce?

I’ve always wondered why, if you gotten an annulment, your husband is your ex, like when you get divorced. If the marriage wasn’t consummated and was a farce, a la Kenny Chesney and Renee Zellweger, why are you considered exes? Anyone in law like family/divorce law can clarify it for me, please?

I live in Virginia if that makes a difference for divorce law. He has been served and a hearing date has been set.

My friend and I were talking about her new job at a law office. I asked her "what type of law does the lawyer practice?" she answered "all kinds."

I have another friend who is in law school and he has to choose what type of law to specialize in (divorce law, bankruptcy, corporate, international, etc.)

Just like there are many types of MDs (cardiologist, anesthesiologist, etc), do you have to specialize if you’re a lawyer.

So is my friend’s answer of "all types" incorrect?

Thank you!

Hello,
My parents got married in Maryland but were living in DC. They are now living in France, which is where the divorce will be taking place. My dad’s (French) lawyer says the divorce law is Maryland, do you agree?

I know Philippines is a Catholic country but Italy has a divorce law where Rome is located.

What are the best law schools for divorce?

Im going to law school and im looking into divorce as my specialty. However Ive read in what few publications i could find on the subject that many schools put divorce as a back burner field and some are trying to weed out the programs that support it as a specialty. apparently it is believed that Divorce lawyers are not the best or brightest of lawyers…. So here’s my questions

1.) What are the best law schools for an up and coming divorce Lawyer?

2.) Why is Divorce looked down upon by other lawyers like personal injury lawyers are?

3.) Where are some of the best places in the U.S. to practice Divorce Law… (National average is approx. 50% of marriages end in divorce and many dont last past twoYears anymore, that’s last I looked so Im sure some one will ream me on the figures… But with those numbers suppose anywhere is good.)

Any other advice on the field from people with experience would be great. I know I want to be a lawyer, I dont really wanna do anything else so persuasion against it or law school would be futile. I realize some lawyers are broke… But so are some doctors and small countries too…

If it helps at all I’m thinking of practicing in Oregon, as it seems to be a place I would like…minus the liberal freaky hippies and the extreme GOP’s there…I’m not positive though…

Like some states have divorce law that each partner gets 50% of everything. If so, then whats the use of a pre-nup? If they didn’t do one then its 50/50? If they do sign one then its up to the pre-nup agreement reguardless of state 50/50 law?
