My county clerk in Florida told me that after filing a petition, my spouse has 20 days to answer. I filed in May, for uncontested dissolution. My spouse has not filed an "answer and waiver". She wants to get counseling with me instead. I have agreed. Legally, how long can I allow a petition to sit before my petition gets denied?

My husband and I are having problems in our marriage. Not close to divorce-yet-but I dont want it to get to that point. We have a son together. We love each other very much. We just constantly bicker anymore… we have tried over and over to fix our problems, but no matter what we do, we can’t seem to do it on our own.

So is there any kind of couples’ therapy or counseling we can get into for (a.) not a whole lot of money, because we don’t have much; and (b.) that isn’t religious or church-based (neither of us are church-goers).

I need to get things back on track before they get any worse, and self-help books, websites, talking to each other, willpower, etc, have not helped.

What would you do if you found out your husband had an affair for 1.5 years and possibly fathered the other womans’ child?
We have three kids together. He moved to a different state to be with her, called her while I was home to tell her he loves her, left to be with at night, etc. We are in counseling now. I also have borderline personality disorder and he has commented that he doesn’t now how to love a person like me and that no man could live with me sometimes. I :flip out" if I fill I am getting to attached to a person and start to fight.

Me and my husband used to fight allot! The first time I left him was because he got really nasty when we used to fight. I realized how much I loved him and asked him for another chance… eventually after long hours of tears we were back together again. It went great the first month, then we started fighting again. We knew we should have gone to a marriage counselor, but we never did! After I asked him the one night if he want me and his kid or his alcohol he said his alcohol. I know he just said it because he was mad at me, but I was so stubborn and I left him again. It’s been 6months now and I still love him with all my heart, and I know it could work if we just get some counseling. But i’m afraid he’ll ask me why I left him and why I suddenly love him again… I don’t want to give him wrong answers or screw this up. Please help me, I love him.
He isn’t an alcoholic… Every weekend he would buy alcohol, and the last time he did it with our last money.
But he doesn’t need the alcohol every day or minute….So it doesn’t make him an alcoholic does it?

dental offices typically work a 4 day work week. my husband in order to get custody of the children, set me up with drugs. therefore, dismissing his 4 domestic violence charges against him, (stating i was no longer a creditable witness) and receiving custody of my babies ages 3 and 23 months. we settled the case in mediation, the guardian ad litem was recommending he get custody because of my arrest. i now have to take weekly drug test, pay for a supervising service to supervise my 3 hour weekly visitation with my children, drug counseling 2 x month for at least the next 3 years and pay him 0.00 child support a month!! i only made .00 hr (32 hr/wk) and she told me in mediation that "i didnt need just one job, i needed a part time job for fri and sat". I am a professional, Why should i have to work two jobs just to pay more child support? he lives with mom, no bills, and is a pipe foreman making /hr. Why? When i was the one abused & hes the one on meth? im in Cobb Co. Ga.

I have a few questions but I’m not comfortable meeting with a counselor face-to-face. Also, I’ve heard online/email counseling is a lot less expensive. I think you can even schedule an online chat with a licensed counselor?? Thanks.

Well I’ve already looked for a while so now I’ve come for help from everyone here in hopes you all can find an answer.
What I need is a free cause I can’t afford to pay yeah I am not rich but yeah ummm counseling by hopefully skilled people. Now it has to be online though, it can’t be by phone. But online chat or by email works for me.
If you could answer this question I would be really thankful.

I’ve been with my partner for four years. We have struggled for almost that whole time with his occasional heavy drinking. Like most people, a few drinks in a sitting from time to time is not a problem for me. It used to be a bigger problem, and he did tone it down.

However, it still impedes our relationship at times, from my perspective. I still worry about him getting "too drunk too early" when going out with friends, and I feel every Friday and Saturday night are now drinking nights (getting drunk not necessarily an outcome).

We both struggle with depression, and I think that his lack of a social circle has led him to drink out of habit. I think our issues as a couple aren’t all due to the drinking, I certainly have my own faults I need to process too.

I’m just wondering if counseling as a couple would be appropriate at this point? I don’t know. I’m feeling very alone and down lately. I don’t know how to explain it to him without it turning into another conversation where it focuses on his drinking.

My wife seems determined to divorce me. I realize, it’s better if we’re together. Best for the baby. I love my baby. It came to the point where she called the cops to kick me out. If I request counseling, what is the chance that couseling can save our marriage? What is the chance she will go to counseling with me?

Did it work for you? I’m kind of at a breaking point right now, and counseling is the last thing I can think of that may be able to save my 2 year relationship. Please share your experiences, and maybe some sources where I can find (affordable) help. It will be greatly appreciated.
