Can Child support enforcement put a payment on hold for 6 months because there may be another child born to the Person paying child support? As well as take the full payment amount out of the arrears, even though the payment was never sent and may be split between 2 children.

We are having a hard debate at work about this part of the law. Most here said the child support enforcement bill was established in 1996, but I feel that it was in place before than. Also I argued that the federal government could not mandate a citzen to pay anything other than a tax or fee, and that is why they put the child support under the title of civil suit. Now what is you guys opinion, even though most of us are at work,,, just sneak and answer this question?

I was verbally told by child support enforcement that his drivers license is suspended for child support arrears. He is court ordered to drive our son to and from my house for visitation. I don’t want to call the cops to check his license on a transfer in case child support enforcement is wrong. He could claim harassment. I went to the county magistrate and he said the police department could verify the information for me. I did that, but the police department refuses to let me know if it’s suspended or not. What should I do?

I know this is a very common subject, but my ex refused to work and plays on being disabled, which hasnt even been established. He lives off his new fiance and she has two kids of her own. I found out from child support, that he walked off his last job, so I know he is refusing to work. Him and I had three children and he is only required to pay 129 a month for all of them, which now he is behind 4000.00. Can I take him to court so action can be taken or would it just be a waste of my time? I am working thru child support enforcement but they are so overloaded, nothing has been done. Im constantly waiting for them to contact the other state and then its just more waiting… Any advice would be appreciated.. I don’t think he deserves the right to just ignore ALL responsibility. He already ignores his kids.
I should mention in reference to an answer I received.. I do have a terrific job and do well supporting my children on my own. The point of the matter is just to give him a wake up call and take some responsibility.. I cant make him do it, but I can sure make him stress for once in his life.

How can I enforce a child support order in a another state. The father is paying however the employer is garnishing and not sending me my money due to her finanical situation. I have contacted Child support and they are not offering me any solution.

I’ve been separated from my ex (with our now 3 year old child) for about a year now. I filed for child support and custody through DES (Department of economic security) through their child support enforcement section. I have gotten a case started and even an atlas number but it’s been almost a year now and I was wondering if there was anyway to make it go faster?

My children are grown and all past child support paid. My ex-wife has an alimony order that I can’t pay. The state of Maine is trying to collect under the department of child support enforcement. I owe the alimony but not child support and my kids are 23 and 25. There was an order for child support for the youngest and it was paid in full. The last child only lived with her for 3 months, then the childsupport order stopped.

I am a single mom, my child’s dad is in jail. I tried to collect child support, but the Child Support Enforcement Agency personnel told me that I could apply for it, but that the application wouldn’t go anywhere because he is in jail. What should I do? I am in need of the funds, otherwise I wouldn’t bother. Any suggestions?
