I am doing an omnibus for my AP English class, and my topic is the controversy surrounding the separation of church and state. I need to find a few websites where i can get solid information. If you know of any, it would be appreciated. Please no wikipedia or opinionated cites. I need this to be as neutral and concrete as possible. Thanx for the help.

Im doing a Speech in favor of gay marriage for Pre-AP english 1.
The assignment was to choose a controversial topic and write a speech on it.Mine is in favor of same-sex marriage.Im having trouble finding facts.I either find something that is super anti-gay or a gay pride website.I need statistics,facts,events and dates.And i also need professional pictures of weddings to use as props,ones with no kissing.Just the 2 grooms or brides standing together.I tried the google images but I ended up with porn and home photos.

YO! I’m really nervous about college. I know, it’s going to be a lot of fun. I’m just a bit nervous. I’m a junior. But tell me how good this seems:

-3.7 GPA Junior Year (3.47 Cumulative)
- 2 Sports: Football and Basketball
- Over 20 awards for academic achievement in 3 years so far (excellence awards, effort awards, merit awards).
- 16th in class of 70 kids.
- Over 70 hours of community service in 3 years so far (45 mandatory)
- I go to a private school
-1720 on SAT (good or bad?)
- On Newspaper magazine, in over 5 clubs, peer mediation, etc.
- I’m in the National Honor Society.
- Since freshman year, been in all Honors classes.
- Taking Senior Year: AP English, AP Psychology, Honors Latin 2 (started taking last year instead of electives), Christian Living (mand.), Honors Physics, Probs/Stats (math), and electives

What schools could I potentially get into?. I’m looking into St. Bonaventure, Syracuse, UConn, UMass Amhearst. In general, how good is this resume?

I would love to go to UC davis!!! or Usc or Ucla ( not really into the uc santa barba or us sandiego). Let me tell you bout my past..and let me kno if i really have a chance…. Ok so 10th grade year i reallly fucked up with my grades and i had total GPA of a 2.1 ( I kno redicilous) but i was in alg 2, chemistry, world history, spanish, honors english. 11th grade i ended up with a 4.1 ( i really tried alot harder) i was takin AP english, Trig, Physilogy, spanish, us history and ceramics. but that means my total GPA is like a 3.1 or 3.2 ….. senior year im taking AP calc, Ap english, gov/econ, psychology/sociology, and foods. Sat was 1725 and Act was 29 Im also a linkcrew leader, part of the peer mediation group and multi culture group. Out side of skool i took a nogatiation class at cal state domingues hills, and a child development class at a communtity collge. I dont do sports but im on a dance team, i have 80 hours of community service at a camp for un privilleged kids, and i have job. Though my GPA was very low for 10th is there still a chance i can get into UC davis???

GPA: 3.67 UW on 4.00 scale, 4.44 W 10-12gr, 4.33 W 9-12gr
Rank: 37 out of 599 (if I remember correctly)
SAT: Took Oct test. Confident I scored 2000+, pretty sure 2100+
SAT 2: Math IIC – 770, Chemistry – 650
ACT: Takin Oct test… not sure how well I’ll do, but I expect 30+. Goal is 32-34

Senior Schedule: AP Calc BC, AP Bio, AP Gov/Econ/MUN, AP English 4, AP Environmental Science

Extracurriculars:
- Key Club (4 years): 90 hours community service
- Model UN (4 years): tons of awards from high school and college conferences
- Peer Assistance Leadership (3 years): conflict resolutions (peer mediation), organized play to local middle school to dissuade them from doing drugs and alcohol, president
- Thieu Nhi (8-9 years… started in 3rd grade): religious group; over 200 hours of community service during just high school; raised funds to send students to Australia for retreat with the Pope a few years back; cantor and altar-server

- passed AP Chem, US, and Physics test (4, 4, and 3 respectively)
- first generation to attend college (at least, I think so? Parents dropped out of University of Irvine during their first year… they just stopped attending. I don’t know if this counts)

University of Chicago was originally my first choice, but I realize my scores are probably too low to get in (plus grades there are extremely deflated, and that wouldn’t be good for me when I apply to med school) and that UChicago is very weird in accepting applicants. Johns Hopkins was second choice, but since JHU accepts roughly 40-50% of ED applicants, I thought it’d be a better choice for me since odds are more likely to be in my favor. I’ve already written my essay for JHU, and the people whom I’ve let read (AP english and honors english teacher, friends, etc) told me it was "the best personal statement I’ve written so far" (friends) and that I "conveyed my passion to study biophysics articulately" and in a way that’s "humorous and andearing" (AP English teacher).

Would I have a chance at these schools? Would I be better off waiting until RD for Chicago and instead devote my time into making my JHU application even better? All thoughts, comments, and concern is appreciated!

I applied early in September and they just made my decision on Nov 4th so I’m trying to figure out what the decision is…

Like I said I applied early since my ACT is below their average, but I think that is my only downfall. I just want to get a feel for what to expect in that envelope.
