I am trying to help my mom find a good divorce lawyer in Fort Walton or Destin, FL. Does anyone know of one? My stepfather is a complete jerk and he says my mom will not get the house, the business, or any alimony. My mom is 58 years old and not in good health. I am just trying to protect her. She just wants to keep her house. If anyone knows of a good lawyer in our area please let me know. Thank you.

Hi all,
I am a student and I have been living in California for 3 years. My wife and I have been married for 6 years and in separation for the recent 2 years and she graduated from school last year and she’s been working in NYC for 8 months. We don’t have properties and kids and she wanted to divorce and we’ve decided to go with an uncontested divorce.
As I don’t have money to hire a lawyer (even after the split). We preliminarily planned to do a self-service.
I am thinking of waive all the claims on supports and hopefully she is willing to do the same and then we will have a smooth divorce and happy ending. And I am a gentlemen anyway. Before our separation two years ago, I supported the family.
Just to get a rough idea, what will our palimony claim be for both temporary and permanent palimony? Currently I earn K per year as I am still a student and she earns, roughly, K per year, as a fresh graduate. This is the current situation. Of course things will change after years later.
I will use the estimate of alimony to estimate how much chance we will have a smooth and happy divorce, even she’s already proposed and agreed on a uncontested divorce. It will not change my decision of being generous and not claiming anything. But I need to have a rough feeling if she’s going to be happy and comfortable with not to claim on me…
Thanks!
Yes, it must be the spousal support. Does anybody know how the permanent support and temporary support claims are calculated in CA? I at least want to have an objective number…

I think its a pretty unfair obligation.
What do you think?
Can this system work out -
Default Alimony is eliminated.
In the event that a spouse is about to give up a significant position or career opportunity in the interest of a situation within that marriage – the spouse proposes a prenuptial agreement that the other spouse share his/her assets/receive alimony in the event of a divorce…
** the other spouse share his/her assests/PAY alimony….

child custody issues. I need to know my rights as a mother. My husband is a two time felon and wants to get custody of our 11 year old son and he has been locked up for 8 years of his life. I want to also know how I can get alimony because right now I am unemployed and have been for 6 months. My husband has been paying the bills and his name is the only one listed on the rental lease for the apartments in which we reside.

With alimony, unequal division of property, and child support, don’t you think this is undermining marriages. I mean if you’re having a hard time in your marriage, your wife seemingly has the upper hand because she’s going to possibly get half if not more of the assets, child support, and in many cases alimony. I mean doesn’t that undermine a husband’s value in the relationship. She can find another sex partner with ease, and the husband still will have to support the family in the even of divorce. My ex-wife committed adultery with a family member but she didn’t suffer because of this situation. Let’s remember also, that 75% of all divorces are filed by women. Men know that as the saying goes, "it’s cheaper to keep her." However, there is no incentive for the opposite. If she’s unhappy and decides to call it quits, you’re just left holding the bag. That really puts men in an unfair bind oftentimes. I know many won’t agree, but I wanted to an open discussion on this topic.

I would like to know each package fit better my condition. I’m married since 8 months with no children both side, no mutual properties, I’m not sure if he has debt but I don’t. I’m the one who ask for divorce and he agreed. Can anyone who been divorced tells me what form of package they purchased. Thank you.
WITH NO CHILDREN, NO PROPERTY, NO DEBTS, AND NO
ALIMONY
(There were no minor or dependent children born to the parties or born during
the marriage and there are no marital assets or debts and no requests for
alimony.)
BOTH PARTIES AGREE
(Both parties agree on all issues & will complete all necessary forms &
requirements.)
PERSONAL SERVICE
(The other spouse will be served with the case.)
PUBLICATION
(You cannot locate your spouse or your spouse has never lived in
Florida.)
ANSWER
(You have been served with a dissolution of marriage case and want to
file an answer.)
SIMPLIFIED
(There are were no children to the parties or born during the marriage; both
parties agree on all issues; both parties will sign the petition; and both parties
MUST be present at the hearing.)

OK, I was asked to find information online and haven’t been able to. If a couple is divorcing and he didn’t work much outside the home, does she have to pay alimony to him if she allows almost all assets to go to him? Isn’t there something called "uneven division of property"?
They have been married 30 + years, they live in Oregon and he has worked off and on through their marriage. He would want their house BAD. She is hoping if he got it then she wouldn’t have to pay alimony. He also gets Social Security every month, she doesn’t draw yet.

I decided to end my marriage and i would like to do so out of court . Is it possible to still collect alimony? Or is this something only a judge can grant.
