Since women always earn less than men, should Congress pass rules that they not be required to pay alimony?
We are finally getting control, with more women working than men, and booting the lazy ass men out, but now they are demanding alimony. Being that men have always kept women earning less, shouldn’t The President ask Congress to pass rules preventing this?

alimony is NOT for the child. child support is. a person can pay both child support AND alimony. i know,i did.
also i have a friend w/o kids and he is paying alimony.
Alimony is a punishment as if a failed marriage is not bad enough.

simply not true, my sister makes way more than all the other men in her division because she is a hard worker and does the job right
now a few decades ago i would say your statement had some credence but not so much any more (my mom actually up and quit on a whim one day when she found out less skilled/less educated men made more money than she did, they both had the same job and had been the same amount of time)
Who says women earn less? What current data do you have showing that women earn less?
That’s an unfair, sweeping generalization. Alimony is determined in a case-by-case basis, considering mutual assets, work history, and current income.

No alimony is paid by the one making the most money regardless of sex. Now you know how the guys feel having to pay alimony even when the women shack up with another guy.

By the way, equal rights is equal rights… Women SHOULD earn as much as an equally qualified man, caucasians & african americans SHOULD be equally accepted to colleges and for employment (not trying to meet a "minority quota"), etc etc etc…
Why in the world would women fight for equal rights then ask for special exclusions based on gender… You just create MORE controversy that way…
Alimony is supposed to benefit the child. The Alimony is supposed to create and equal living environment for the child by making sure both spouses are on an equal playing field.
To be honest there are lots of lazy women as well as men. I don’t think it’s fair to say that a man is lazy cause he wants alimony but a women isn’t when she asks for it.
I think women need to realize that equality between the sexes isn’t necessarily all it’s cracked up to be. Some of the things you loose are things like chivalry, you now have to pay alimony, no longer assumed that you get the child in a divorce, harsh penalties in the criminal system etc.
I agree with equality 100% for both men and women.
