Let husband know about divorce attorney?
My sister and her husband were attempting to do a mediated divorce (with no attorneys) but the husband has decided to make it really difficult (doesn’t want to pay child support, moved out of the house but then moved back in). Becase of this my sister has retained a divorce lawyer. Is she obligated to let him know that he now has a lawyer?

Nope. He can find out via the attorney or at the next court appearance.
And Bravo! to your sis for standing up for herself and her kids!
No. I would let the attorney notify him.
Legally, it’s the responsibility of her attorney to notify her husband. She is not obligated to tell him a thing.
I wouldn’t tell him I would hit him below the belt soo fast he won’t know what hit him.
The attorney will do so.
She is not obligated to do anything. The lawyer will inform him of her wants. She doesn’t have to do anything.
I don’t know if she would be obligated but he’s going to find out when she shows up with a lawyer. Better to just tell him.
You really need to re read your last statement…Your brother in law doesn’t HAVE the lawyer, your sister does. SHE hired the lawyer not your brother in law. The lawyer will probably notify him soon enough and he will be advised to retain a lawyer for himself.
