how do I get a copy of my divorce papers? It took place in Dallas, Tx in 1984?
I am getting ready to retire and I have to supply a copy of my divorce papers to my pension office. I was in Calif. and my husband was in Texas, but the divorce took place in Dallas, Tx. Somehow, I have lost my copies.

A second option is to contact your attorney & see if they will send you a copy at nominal cost.
Call the Clerk of the Court that issued your divorce in Dallas. There will be a charge for the copy, but it isn’t much. DO NOT PAY WITH A CHECK!!! Get a money order and send it to them.

If the record is old enough that no digital record exists, call the District Clerk’s office. Contact information is available at

Good luck.
