Am I likely to be admitted to Johns Hopkins University early decision? University of Chicago early action?

University of Chicago was originally my first choice, but I realize my scores are probably too low to get in (plus grades there are extremely deflated, and that wouldn’t be good for me when I apply to med school) and that UChicago is very weird in accepting applicants. Johns Hopkins was second choice, but since JHU accepts roughly 40-50% of ED applicants, I thought it’d be a better choice for me since odds are more likely to be in my favor. I’ve already written my essay for JHU, and the people whom I’ve let read (AP english and honors english teacher, friends, etc) told me it was "the best personal statement I’ve written so far" (friends) and that I "conveyed my passion to study biophysics articulately" and in a way that’s "humorous and andearing" (AP English teacher).
Would I have a chance at these schools? Would I be better off waiting until RD for Chicago and instead devote my time into making my JHU application even better? All thoughts, comments, and concern is appreciated!

Both JHU and U of C are extremely selective schools, so unless you went to an unusually competitive prep school for high school, I don’t see either school admitting you with a 3.67 or as #37 in your class. You could apply, but you need more realistic back-ups, I’m afraid. It sounds like you are a good student, but not an extraordinary one.
You aren’t a first-generation college student if both your parents actually started college, but you may be a first-generation college graduate if you get through!
